Someone shared with me a very interesting website today. If you want to see where the Governor of Georgia has identified our “shovel-ready” projects, check out stimuluswatch.org. You can pull up projects by keyword but you’ll probably just want to search by city and state. But don’t miss the chance to view the lists of Most Active, Most Critical and Least Critical on the main page.
What is really cool about this site is you can vote for/against each project in your area and actually write about the project in their wiki. As you can imagine, there is no shortage of opinions out there when we are talking about our tax dollars. Check out what projects are being planned for Alpharetta.
It appears that there is some support for the $3M Bridge Replacement on Kimball Bridge, as well as the $550,000 pedestrian bridge on Douglas Rd. Not surprising are the big NO’s for the $18M Webb Bridge Park Community Center and the $1.1M indoor shooting range.
It’s great that the Governors Conference has made this information public and it is a fantastic opportunity for us to voice our opinions on what we think are reasonable or unreasonable projects for our tax dollars to be spent on.
There is one traffic project I would love to see finished; when will the blinking light at the intersection of Hopewell, Francis and Cogburn be put into effect? Is it me or do the majority of drivers not know how to proceed at a 4-way stop?
Tell me what projects you think are missing from the list!
