I get asked all the time, “What are the best schools in this area?”. This is a hard question to answer and always a touchy subject because there are so many more aspects to a school than the achievement score. The teachers, gifted programs, sports, teacher/student ratios, % exceeding standards, poverty rate, etc. Generally I reccomend to clients searching for homes in Forsyth County to check out the schools themselves and look at the scores online. It’s important that they make their own informed decision rather than base it on one persons opinion.
Especially since I have a theory called the “My kids school doesn’t suck” theory. In short, I’ve never met a parent who told another parent “Don’t send your kids to the school my kids go to, it isn’t that great”. It never happens. That’s why you should research and visit the school personally.
But - before that you need some idea of which schools are doing well. To that end, here are the top five Elementary and Middle Schools in Forsyth County, and the top High School. All based on the 2009 Georgia Report Card taking into account the achievement score and the % of students exceeding standards.
