Pooles Mill Park Covered BridgeI took my girls and a friend of theirs to Poole’s Mill Park last week but didn’t tell them what we were doing. Of course, they KNEW we were going someplace boring. What they didn’t know is that Poole’s Mill Park is on of the great little secrets of Forsyth County for kids and adults to hang out and cool off - all for free.

A little history-

A one-of-kind passive park, Poole’s Mill is 10 acres of property that showcases a unique covered bridge. The Bridge, built in 1901, spans the shoals of Settendown Creek. After periods of disrepair, the structure was converted from private ownership and dedicated as a county park in 1997. The park, on the National Historic Registry, offers residents the opportunity to picnic, walk and reminisce about the history of a bygone era. What really makes it fun is hanging out on the rock out-croppings and staying cool in the creek!
